Vigil Guard Joins Xopero Software
Why We Are Joining Xopero
Xopero Software S.A. is acquiring Vigil Guard PSA. Our team will work alongside Xopero's team as part of the same corporate group. The people who built the Vigil Guard platform will continue developing it, now with access to the group's R&D resources, operational scale and global distribution network. For Vigil Guard, this is the most important moment since the company was founded.
It is also an important step toward digital sovereignty for Poland and Europe. Two Polish technology companies are coming together: Xopero protects company data through backup and disaster recovery, and Vigil Guard protects it at the point where it reaches AI models. This is the first time these capabilities have been combined in Central and Eastern Europe. Vigil Guard verifies AI interactions inside the customer's own infrastructure, so data does not have to leave the organization to be protected. Organizations across Europe, including those in regulated sectors covered by NIS2 and DORA, can protect their data and govern their use of AI with technology developed in Poland.
âWhat mattered most to me in this decision was that Ćukasz Jesis, Xopero's CEO, and I share a very similar vision of digital sovereignty. We both believe that the technology protecting European companies' data and governing their use of AI should be built in Europe, and that customers should stay in full control of their own data. Xopero has been doing that for years in backup and data protection, and we have been doing it in AI security for just under a year. Starting today, we are doing it together,â says Tomasz Bartel, CEO and Founder of Vigil Guard.

Traditional Security Tools Can't Keep Up with AI
The rapid and increasingly widespread adoption of AI-based tools and autonomous AI agents, including in environments such as Jira, Confluence and code repositories, has outpaced traditional security systems. AI-related risks are surging. Company emails, documents and source code, often containing sensitive data, are flowing into prompts sent to external language models on a massive scale. At the same time, the threat of prompt injection is rising: malicious instructions hidden in text can hijack an AI assistant and make it leak business-critical information, as incidents involving Atlassian Rovo, among others, have shown.
We are now addressing these threats together with Xopero. Xopero Software's portfolio, including GitProtect, is expanding beyond backup and disaster recovery into a complete data security and AI governance stack.
âAI adoption is outpacing the rollout of procedures to control and secure it. As a result, companies often back up corrupted or infected content without verifying its history and integrity, mistaking the mere existence of a backup for the ability to recover data from it,â says Ćukasz Jesis, CEO and Founder of Xopero Software S.A.
âCombining Xopero's mature ecosystem with Vigil Guard's innovative technology allows us to bring something unique to market: a full stack for data protection and AI governance. We are getting ahead of the challenges posed by a new era of cyber threats and mounting regulatory pressure, and giving organizations a guarantee that their data is fully secure, even when it reaches language models.â
What Vigil Guard Brings
Vigil Guard is an AI Detection & Response (AIDR) platform that monitors, in real time, what AI systems actually do in production and enforces policies before any damage is done. It rapidly detects prompt injection attacks and keeps AI agents from acting beyond their assigned tasks. Sensitive data such as Polish national ID numbers (PESEL), tax identification numbers (NIP) and bank account numbers is masked automatically in prompts sent to language models.
âThere is no stopping the wave of AI adoption in business, and no point in trying, but keeping it fully under control is essential. When we founded Vigil Guard, we set out to fill a gap left by traditional cybersecurity tools: real-time protection of the language-based interactions themselves and of AI agent activity,â says Tomasz Bartel, CEO and Founder of Vigil Guard.
âJoining Xopero and continuing to develop the platform greatly increases our team's ability to scale. We are combining our proprietary AI threat detection engines with Xopero's mature ecosystem to build a solution that will soon be a prerequisite for any CISO signing off on widespread use of AI agents in their organization.â
Safe AI Adoption in Regulated Industries
Combined, Xopero and Vigil Guard technologies create a security environment built for sectors with the strictest information protection requirements, including financial services, insurance, telecommunications, healthcare and the public sector. The integrated offering will allow organizations to adopt AI safely, with full auditability (ISO 27001, SOC 2) and compliance with regulations such as NIS2 and DORA, plus a guarantee that confidential business information will not fall into the wrong hands.
As the joint platform develops, organizations in Poland and around the world will be able to benefit fully from AI without compromising on cybersecurity or data privacy.
