Vigil Guard 1.9.0 Independent Extension Updates, Up to 8x Higher Throughput
Release Context
Vigil Guard Enterprise 1.9.0 focuses on software delivery and runtime capacity. The release introduces an independent, signed update channel for the browser extension, re-tuned production scaling profiles, and a prompt-size breakdown of decision latency in Monitoring. Detection behavior is unchanged: no detectors, models, thresholds or rules were modified in this release.
Independent Browser Extension Update Channel
The browser extension now has its own signed update channel, separate from platform releases. Extension fixes can be delivered to users without waiting for or scheduling a platform upgrade.
Each platform image includes a signed extension package pinned to that release. The package is verified and activated automatically on initial installation and after each upgrade; no manual action is required.
Administrator Approval and Air-Gapped Deployments
Independent extension updates are disabled by default. Administrators can enable them under Browser Extension > Independent extension updates. When enabled, each new release is verified against signed release metadata and replaces the served extension only after an administrator reviews and approves it. All changes are recorded in the update history.
Deployments with internet access can check for new releases online (opt-in). Air-gapped deployments can import a complete, signed offline package. Offline authorization remains valid for up to 180 days and cannot exceed the deadlines signed into each release. Each extension release declares its supported platform versions in its signed release notes; extension 1.9.0-R1 supports platform version 1.8.9 and later.
| Setting | Behavior in 1.9.0 |

| Embedded extension | Verified and activated automatically on installation and upgrade |
| Independent updates | Disabled by default; enabled by an administrator |
| Release approval | Required before a new release is served |
| Online release check | Opt-in |
| Offline package | Signed; authorization valid for up to 180 days |
| Compatibility | Declared in signed release notes; 1.9.0-R1 supports platform 1.8.9 and later |
Production Scaling Profiles
All four production profiles (prod-32-balanced, prod-64-balanced, prod-128-balanced and prod-256-balanced) are re-tuned for mixed production prompt traffic. The release also removes two bottlenecks that limited resource utilization on large hosts.
In internal load testing on a large host, the same hardware processed up to eight times more requests per second in selected workloads, and several times more on a typical mix of short and long prompts. The new profiles are applied automatically during the upgrade. Actual results vary with host size and prompt mix.
Decision Latency by Prompt Size
The Monitoring view replaces the single latency gauge with decision latency grouped by prompt size: up to 512 tokens, up to 1,000 tokens, up to 2,500 tokens, and above 2,500 tokens. Each group reports p50, p95 and p99 together with minimum, maximum and average values. The breakdown supports capacity planning for workloads with long prompts.
Resolved Issues and Security Updates
The release resolves browser extension issues on Claude and Perplexity. Health reporting for the PII detection engine is now more accurate, and in-product Help content has been corrected.
Dependencies with published security advisories have been updated, and the Python runtime base image has been refreshed. All risk-accepted vulnerabilities were re-reviewed against the images shipped in 1.9.0.
Upgrade Notes
After the upgrade, the embedded 1.9.0 extension is activated automatically. Independent extension updates remain disabled until an administrator enables them.
Availability
Vigil Guard Enterprise 1.9.0 is available to all customers with active support. The upgrade is recommended first for deployments on large hosts and for organizations that require browser extension fixes to be delivered independently of the platform release cycle.
